Andanças
For the 8th time, PédeXumbo brings to live worldwide traditional
music and dances. For a week, people of all ages and from all over
the world will have the chance of learning traditional dances in
daily workshops, practicing in evening balls. Outdoor activities
such as trekking, slide, or swimming may fill in the musical breaks.
Children are welcome to learn at dancing workshops especially designed
for them, listen to storytellers, or else attend a number of other
activities. It is the participants that make up Andanças,
so participants of all ages are invited to indulge in whatever pleases
them most.
The Andancas is not like any other Festival.
At Andanças we believe that a better World is possible, and
we ask everybody to make the Andanças’ week the example
of what we believe could be a better world. We ask people to indulge
in activities, especial the ones that are new to them.
A fair trade and local products breakfast will
prove that a better world is also a more delicious one! The traditional
communal canteen will be set up in a tent for lunches and suppers,
and we’ll give a discount to participants that bring their
own dishes and cutlery, as they will contribute to decrease the
amount of waste produced at the Festival (washing facilities will
be provided). Also we ask the participants to bring a book to be
shared at a communal library during the Festival. And we invite
all to look around the beautiful scenery of Andanças, to
go for walks in the mountains, to meet the locals.
Unfortunately, pets are not allowed at the Festival premises.
Accommodation
Participants may stay at a camping site next to the Festival, for
free. Other sorts of accommodation may be found here.
